Illust

Wow, I actually mustered up the energy and time to draw something new. Here is Aein (left) and Blithe (right) together, in the uniforms they normally wear. I normally draw fanart (and I should, since I owe several illust for several people....), but today I felt like drawing something from my own designs instead. Must be the strange weather putting me in a strange state of mind.
The winter rains haven't subsided yet, and they're still going to pour onto L.A. tomorrow. I'm glad. First off, it means I won't be seeing any girls wearing revealing outfits and too-tight/second-skin clothing. Secondly, I get to use my awesome umbrella and wear my awesome winter-rain gear.

Rain on their parade please

Just two images testing the sort of colouring I want to use on Aein. I want Blithe to have vibrant orange hair with golden eyes, Edel to have dark eyes but with strawberry blonde hair-- but Aein has been such a difficult character to colour. So now he has brown hair with pink/green eyes. Ue shall have red hair with red eyes, because "red is the colour of blood". Sorry, I don't know where that quote came from.

Well, I finally bought my plywood, and for 3USD a slab (140cm by 50cm each) I think it was a pretty good deal. Of course, I could have always picked something similar from the rubbish, but who wants to do that?
I'm also getting myself a second job, this time at the department I study at. Hopefully I'll get a decent hourly wage-- unlike what I get at the library I currently work at. Speaking of the library, my co-worker and I discovered larged puddles of water on the library floor today; and in the section with the books from the 1800s. Apparently the building is leaking, and the rains won't stop until Monday. I just hope I won't return to the library on Tuesday and realize that the entire place has been flooded.

PS: Cold weather is fabulous. I get to whip out my favourite Zara coat. And I must say that Zara is a wonderful brand.

Time Capsule!

One of my older drawings from eons past. Fine, that might be a slight exaggeration. It was done about a year or two ago, when I actually had less work to do and less readings to...er....read. Wow, my vocab impresses even myself. (But this means I'm one step clopser to my hermit/caveman-ish dreams).

-------------------------------------------------------------

I had to go and buy plywood from Culver City today. I made the stupid assumption that the U.S. is just like Hong Kong. Never assume. Lesson learned. Shops in Hong Kong are opened all seven days of the week; so thinking it was Saturday, and that those hefty folks in Los Angeles would feel up to sawing through some wooden boards in their spare time, would mean that the store would be opened today.

No. I took two buses, walked over a mile, and found the 'closed' sign being shoved in my face. Or I shoved my face to it. Eithert way, there was an invasion of personal space between the sign and my visage. So seeking another plywood store, I walked all around Culver...and when I finally found another store, it was also closed. What, do they assume that people not need wood on weekends (once again, proving that the power of assumption is a very dangerous thing)?

So not only did I lose money for the bus fare, I lost a bit of self-respect and a ton of calories. It's a LOSER day.

Crunchy!

Oh dear, I'm getting food cravings again. I blame the supermarket because: they put a discount on the Special K chocolate conflakes (which I otherwise wouldn't have bought at its regular price): it was 5USD for two boxes: and they tasted so good I finished both boxes in record time: and wanting to buy more I returned to the market: only to find that they're sold out. Sobs, I feel like a drug fiend D:

Sardine post!

Happy winter, happy new year, happy start of semester (?), happy every other holiday, etc etc. Too many events occured and I can barely keep track.
I haven't updated in a while, though it is pretty simple; I was in Hong Kong for the entire month. It was a fairly hectic month as well, with personal affairs, school work and misc obligations to uphold each time I see my family and friends. (I won't bother posting the photos of my trip on this blog since I stuffed them all onto facebook. Although I must admit that the lack of privacy on facebook is unnerving, it is also a very spiffy tool when it comes to sharing our own experiences with others). Lots of eating, but less shopping done in Hong Kong this year (trying to break the cycles of consumerism). So my family and I just went walking around the old villages in Tai Po, whereas my friend and I went photographing and wandering around the old HK island districts.
I am, however, sort of dissapointed with how quickly the old historical landmarks around HK are vanishing so quickly. I can barely remember HK looking like this before, with its recent infestation of sterile and impersonal megamalls rampaging through the west kowloon side. (That's some biased language I used there....but this is my blog, and I can say whatever I bloody well want to). And then there are the influx of tourists in the area; not that I mind the tourists themselves as people, but they do crowd the streets even more. Human traffic jam.
PS: The finals went well, I managed to rack up a pretty decent report scare for the fall semester (surprise surprise).
On the Yue scale, this HK trip ranks as: Awesome, with room for improvement.
--------------------------------------------------------
Anyways, today is the second day of the semester and I am already so bloody tired. Doesn't help that my first class......is.....at 6:00pm...on tuesday. Gaspage. And I'm back to my jittery glory with the whole grad-school application process.
